Motorists are advised to plan ahead for overnight closures on State Highway 27 in Matamata.
Starting Sunday 23 June, for approximately 2 weeks, sections of SH27 will be closed at night to allow the road to be resurfaced. This will take place between Short Street and Ratcliffe Street on SH27 including the SH24/SH27 roundabout.
Due to the complexity of the work site the road will be closed between 8pm and 5am each night from Sunday to Thursday. Detours are available (see map).
No work will take place during the day but there will be temporary traffic management in place with a reduced speed limit of 30km/h.
We understand road closures can be frustrating, but they allow us to get work done efficiently and quickly. This means we can restore the road to normal traffic in the shortest time possible. This is one of the last pieces of rebuilding work for the Waikato 2023/24 maintenance season.
The next maintenance season starts in October. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi thanks people for their patience while this important maintenance work is carried out.
