A 29-year-old man was shot by Police this morning after approaching officers with a weapon on State Highway 1, near Pohuehue.
Police provided immediate first aid but the man died at the scene from his injuries.
Further information will be provided by Superintendent Tusha Penny, Waitemata District Commander, at a media stand-up later today.
The stand-up will be held at 1pm at North Shore Police Station, 52 Parkway Drive.
State Highway 1 is currently closed between Woodcocks Road and Silverdale. The following diversions are in place:
