The road will initially open to a single lane during day light hours at the slip site and there will be stop/go traffic management in place. The site will be continuously monitored to ensure the area remains safe for people to travel through.

However, our contractors have discovered that some additional work should be done before the busy spring and summer period. With the school holidays starting in just a week’s time it has been decided to complete the current section by working this Friday night also, then carry out tidy up work next week during the day, with delays of up to 10 minutes for bridge users.

Headline: Waioeka Gorge SH2 Bay of Plenty to remain closed

Contractors are on site clearing the slip, and geotechnical engineers are currently assessing the stability of the site. Until those assessments have been competed it is too early to predict when the road will be able to be safely re-opened to traffic.
We will continue to provide updates on our social media and the NZTA website.
If travelling, we ask motorists to use a SH35 as an alternative route or delay travel.

Headline: Maungatapu underpass to open to traffic

The 120m-long underpass is a two-lane link underneath the Maungatapu roundabout. A temporary 50km/h speed restriction will be in place through the underpass, and the new traffic lights will be operating at the Welcome Bay Road and Welcome Bay Link Road intersection.

Headline: Drivers urged to watch for cyclists, avoid bollards Dunedin CBD cycle lanes

“With the new separated cycle lanes under construction in this location, it’s even more important that drivers take care near the existing on-road cycle lane,” says Transport Agency Maintenance Contract Manager, Nick Rodger. “We want all road users to be safe, and that means drivers keeping an eye out for cyclists and pedestrians. The cycle lane is for cyclists not car or truck wheels.”

There are reports of a tree and other material on the road, but it won’t be possible to make an assessment until the morning. It’s not clear at this stage how long the road will be closed, says the Transport Agency’s Northland System Manager Jacqui Hori-Hoult.

Headline: Rockfall after rain restricts road access into Kaikōura – Waiau/ Mt Lyford only road in overnight

Traffic was safely diverted away from the rockfall between Rosy Morn and the Raramai Tunnel, but given the difficulties of hearing and seeing rock falling in the dark, a decision has been made to close the road at 5 pm, says Tresca Forrester, Network Operations Manager for the Transport Agency.

The tent, at site D-57, will provide information on general treatments, barriers, the Safety Boost programme (which includes intersection speed zones) and an overview of all safety projects nationwide. There will also be expert speakers, two remote control car tracks for visitors to manoeuvre vehicles down, and a BBQ for visitors at around lunchtime.

Headline: Work to begin on Makorori rest area upgrade

Tairāwhiti Roads General Manager Dave Hadfield says the Makorori site will have 50 marked parking spaces, four new picnic tables, two rubbish bins and an extra beach access to help stop people eroding the dunes as they make their own path to the beach.

Headline: Temporary Changes To Lane Layout on SH1 Northbound at Takanini

The road layout will change overnight on Tuesday 12 June, with an overnight closure of the motorway between the Takanini Interchange and Manukau. New lanes will be painted on the road in time for Wednesday morning commuters, says the Transport Agency’s Senior Manager Project Delivery, Chris Hunt.
