Car fire, State Highway 1 near Mercer

Emergency services are responding to a car fire on State Highway 1 near Mercer.

Police were notified of the car fire at around 11.11am. There are no reports of injury.

All northbound lanes are currently closed, with traffic heading south at reduced speeds.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays while the scene is cleared.

Update – Missing 2-year-old Willow located

Police can confirm that missing 2-year-old Willow has been located and is safe and well.

She has been reunited with her family.

Police and Willow’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all involved in the search.

There was a fantatstic response from the community, who assisted with the search and provided support.

Update – Search continues for missing 2-year-old, Willow

As the search continues for 2-year-old Willow, Police would like to hear from anyone who observed a black vehicle stopping on Universal Drive at around 2pm to assist a child.

Police continue to request that anyone who was driving in the Universal Drive and Zodiac Street area today, to check dashcams for footage of Willow.

Willow is 2 and has gone missing from her home on Zodiac Street, Henderson this afternoon.

She was last seen in the garden playing with a sibling.

Willow is wearing a pink jersey, jeans and black and white chucks.

Her family is incredibly worried for her and Police request if anyone has seen her to get in contact.

Police search and rescue and LandSAR, supported by eagle are currently searching the Swanson area. 

Residents in the Zodiac Street area are asked to check their property for the toddler. 

Any sightings of Willow in the past two hours are asked to be reported Police on 111, quoting event number P055661546.

Have you seen Stewart?

Stewart Willis, 63, was last seen at his home on Colombo St, St Albans.

He has not returned home in the last three weeks. 

Police have concerns for his welfare and are seeking assistance from the public.

Anyone that has seen Mr Willis or has information of his whereabouts, in encouraged to call Police on 105, and quote file number 230807/7610.

Te Puke man facing range of charges after fleeing police

A Te Puke man is facing a range of charges after fleeing from Police early this morning.

At 4.15am, Police received a report regarding a car being driven around Papamoa Beach with no lights on.

The caller also advised that a firearm had been presented by the driver.

The car was located by Police in Station Road, Te Puke, shortly before 5.30am.

The driver failed to stop for Police and road spikes were deployed at the intersection of Boucher Avenue and Slater Place, Te Puke.

The driver stopped the car in King Street, Te Puke a short time later and fled on foot, however was quickly apprehended by officers.

Cash, methamphetamine and a firearm were located in the car.

The 29-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Tauranga District Court tomorrow (Monday 14 August).

Update: Crash on Te Teko Road, Te Teko

A person has died after being seriously injured in a crash on Te Teko Road on Friday 11 August.

The crash involving two vehicles was reported to Police at around 6.30pm on Friday.

One person was transported to hospital in a critical condition and sadly has died in hospital.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.

Serious crash, Ponsonby

Emergency services are responding to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Redmond Street, Ponsonby.

The crash was reported around 12:40 and one person is critically injured.

Cordons are in place at Pompallier Terrace and Jervois Road.

Motorist are advised to avoid the area where possible.
