Police are responding to a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on the intersection of Acacia Avenue and Dowse Drive, Maungaraki, Lower Hutt. 

The crash was reported around 2:50pm.

One person is being transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

The road is closed and diversions are in place, motorists are advised to take an alternative route.

Planned protest, 28 August

Police are aware of social media posts on a planned protest tomorrow morning that could cause disruption to traffic.

It’s expected that further protests could occur over the next few weeks. We will be proactively placing Police units at strategic points on the Wellington roading network in an effort to ensure public safety and prevent unlawful behaviour.

Police recognise the right to peaceful protest, and we also recognise that the public has a right to go about their lawful business.

We urge protesters to consider their safety and the safety of others when planning their peaceful protest.

Police will respond rapidly to unlawful behaviour with appropriate enforcement action and subsequent prosecution.

Road closed following crash, Whenuapai

Emergency services are currently responding to a single-car crash on Trig Road, Whenuapai, where a power pole has been brought down.

Police were called about 9.10am.

One person has reportedly sustained moderate injuries.

The road is currently closed while the power lines are attended to.

Please avoid the area if possible.

Police investigating sudden death in Raureka, Hastings

Police are investigating following a sudden death at a residential address in Raureka, Hastings last night.

Around 8:50pm Police responded to calls of a disorder on Murdoch Place where a person was found unresponsive.

After receiving medical assistance, they died at the scene.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries to determine the circumstances are ongoing.

A scene guard is in place at the property.

Fatal crash, Lake Ohia

One person has died following a single-car crash near the intersection of SH10 and Inland Road, Lake Ohia.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 2.55am.

The sole occupant was found deceased.

Enquiries in to the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Update – aggravated robbery, Cavendish Drive

Counties Manukau Police continue to make enquiries following an aggravated robbery at a commercial premises on Cavendish Drive, Papatoetoe, overnight.

Police were called about 3.10am after four males entered a store armed with tools, assaulting a staff member and taking items.

The offenders then left the scene in a vehicle.

The staff member was not seriously injured but was understandably shaken by the incident.

A scene examination is being carried out this morning, and Police are following strong lines of enquiry.

We would like to hear from anyone in the area who witnessed the incident or who saw anything suspicious.

Name release – Fatal crash, Greywacke Road, Harewood

Police can now name the person who died following a crash on Greywacke Road, Harewood on 31 July.

She was 17-year-old Nekera Eileen Low, of Christchurch.

Police extend our condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the crash.

Fatal Crash, Totaranui Road, Abel Tasman National Park

A person has been located deceased after a single vehicle crash on Totaranui Road, Abel Tasman National Park.

Police responded to reports of a vehicle sighted down a bank off Totaranui Road, Abel Tasman National Park, around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

The Serious Crash Unit have been advised, and the vehicle is expected to be retrieved today.

Road closure following serious crash, Ohakune

One person has been helicoptered to hospital in a critical condition and another has minor injuries.

The road is due to be closed while the scene is examined.

Robbery Cavendish Drive, Manukau

At about 03:12 am this morning, four males have entered the McDonald’s on Cavendish Drive and have stolen some items from staff working in the store.
Police are working with staff to determine what has occurred. The McDonald’s has been closed for further police investigation later today.
Police are following a strong line of enquiry and can reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident.
