Police are attending an incident in Pukekohe where a male at an address has sustained a gunshot wound to his leg shortly after 12.40pm.

Enquiries are underway to locate the offender, who fled from the Hogan St address following the incident.

At this stage of our investigation, it’s believed the offender is known to the victim.

Paerata School in Pukekohe is currently in lockdown as a precaution.

Northland Police search for missing Onerahi man

Headline: Northland Police search for missing Onerahi man

Police are looking to locate 89-year-old Christopher Kapa who was last seen in the Raurimu Road area, Onerahi  last night around 11pm (8 March, 2018).

Mr Kapa is hard of hearing and may appear to be confused.

It is not clear exactly what he was wearing when he went missing, however he normally wears grey track pants and a dark top.

Police are concerned for his welfare and urge anyone who may have seen him to contact police.

Police have arrested five Wellingtonians and restrained hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets following a long-running investigation into the importation and sale of a Class C drug.

The operation began in November last year and focussed on the importation of N-Ethylpentylone — a relatively new Class C controlled drug commonly referred to as Brown Sugar, Mephedrone or Drone — into the Wellington region.

A truck has rolled on Saddle Road, Woodville in the Tararua District. The crash occurred at 7.30 this morning and there were no injuries.

The truck will need to be removed and the road will be closed from 9am while this is undertaken.

The road will be closed for at least six hours.

Please use the alternate route – Paihiatua Track.

Police thank motorists for their patience.

A 41 year old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the 2007 robbery of the Rangitikei Street branch of BNZ, Palmerston North.

The bank was robbed on the 24th of May 2007 by a man who presented what appeared to be a pistol at three tellers and demanded money.

He left the bank with around $1400 shortly after.

The three women tellers were shaken by the incident but not injured.

The pistol was an imitation.

The investigation was reopened a few months ago and a search warrant was carried out in Palmerston North today, March 8.

Serious crash on Timaru-Temuka Highway

Diversions are in place south of Temuka following a serious crash on the Timaru-Temuka Highway about 4:55pm.

Two vehicles were involved and two people are reportedly in a critical condition.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

Emergency services are at the scene, and diversions are in place at State Highway 8 and Arowhenua Road, via Levels Plain Road.

Emergency services are attending a fatal crash on State Highway 3 at Awakino.

One person has died at the scene.

Police were called to the collision involving a car and a motorcycle at 3.26pm.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place.

The investigation into a Grey Lynn address where two people were found deceased on Tuesday 6 March, 2018 is continuing.

The post mortem and formal identification process has now been completed for the man and woman who were found at the scene.

We are now in a position to release their names.

Police can confirm the woman was that of missing Auckland woman, 39-year-old Tania Ellwood.

A 28-year-old Palmerston North man has appeared in court today [March 8] in relation to a series of assaults at two Palmerston North bars on February 25, 2018.

The man, who is a senior member of the Central chapter of the Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Gang, faces seven charges of assault, including two of assault with intent to injure. He is due to reappear in Palmerston North District Court on March 26, 2018.

At about 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 March) Police were called to a Wainuiomata address, where other emergency services were already in attendance.
 
Police are now investigating the unexplained death of a 40-year-old man at the address.
 
His death will be referred to the Coroner and a post-mortem conducted.
