Wet and muddy conditions are to be expected on farms at this time of year, with slow pasture growth, rain and when feeding winter crops. The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is reminding all pastoral livestock farmers to ensure animals are well cared for on crops and pasture, and seek advice if they need to.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) today extended the public health warning against collecting shellfish on the west coast of the North Island in the Taranaki and Waikato region. The warning now extends from the mouth of Port Waikato southward to Ohawe in the Taranaki region. The alert also includes Aotea and Kawhia Harbours but not Port Waikato itself.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) today issued a public health warning against collecting shellfish on the west coast of the North Island in the Taranaki and Waikato region. The warning extends from Raglan, including Raglan Harbour, southward to Urenui. The alert also includes Aotea and Kawhia Harbours.

Today, the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) started work to eradicate salvinia, one of the world’s worst aquatic weeds, from the Wairakei Stream at Papamoa. Salvinia is an unwanted organism and notifiable organism under the Biosecurity Act, meaning that it is illegal to grow or share plants.
