Message for our dual provider partners regarding Covid-19

Dual tuition with Te Kura

We are receiving a large number of enquiries about dual registration. The Ministry of Education sets the Te Aho o Te Kura Enrolment and Dual Tuition Policy. Dual tuition is intended for curriculum adaptation and for curriculum capability purposes. The curriculum adaptation categories cover circumstances where the school at which the student is enrolled is unable to provide the required specialist programming or curriculum adaptation. The curriculum capability categories are to enable generally smaller schools to provide a full and balanced curriculum.
At the current time you may continue to register students that meet the criteria for dual tuition but please do not register students with Te Kura simply as a way to access online learning. The Ministry of Education’s expectation is that the first two weeks of the COVID-19 Alert Level 4 response is treated as school holidays. Following that, schools should provide their students with distance learning opportunities to the greatest extent practicable, and the Ministry has produced a website to support students’ learning temporarily. The Learning from Home website contains advice and resources to support learning at home from early learning to senior secondary year levels.

The Ministry will be working over the next few weeks to provide next steps for distance learning options to support all students’ ongoing learning, including the best use of Te Kura’s systems and resources. These will be made available by the end of the school holidays.

Supporting our current dual partners

We will be supporting our current dual partners in the following ways:

  • Learning programmes will be available through My Te Kura, our online learning environment
  • Our regional relationship coordinators will be available online and by phone
  • Kaiako will be available online and by phone during the school term

Our Student and Whānau Support team will be available to support your students with general online learning queries and technical issues: hub@tekura.school.nz

Thank you for your ongoing support of our kaimahi and school community. Please keep an eye on your emails and connect with us on social media – we are active on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Let’s all be patient and kind to each other while we get used to a new way of operating.

He waka eke noa – we are all in this together.
